count your blessings

I know it's redundant, I know my dashboard is filled with them, but I'm going to do it anyway, because it's that time of year: a thankful post. Maybe you don't want to read it, maybe you'll ignore it because it's the millionth one you've seen, but that's okay. Maybe you'll read it, and maybe you'll like it, or see something special in it. Who knows. I need to post right now, and this is it.

My youth group leader challenged me and one of my friends to write a thankful list every day. Not for Thanksgiving, though it certainly applies. Just because we are so blessed, and we don't realize it. So the list of 10 things every day has gotten longer... and longer...and longer. I'm at 220 things today. And here are a few. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for...

uno. autumn foliage, in all its glorious splendor, brilliantly relinquishing its life to the oncoming winter. (all photos are unedited, because God's creation doesn't need editing.)

dos. getting my braces off last week! love.
tres. this year's nanowrimo. i have learned a tremendous amount about writing, and i love my twin characters, elena and marieke, so very much.
cuatro. quotes. my favorites, via pinterest: (sorry, i don't have an account, so no links.)

cinco. the gift of song, and my choir. we had two concerts last week, and oh! what lovely sounds we made.
seis. a long-anticipated break from school. my brain was about to burst. doing nothing is so nice sometimes.
siete. that unprecedented feeling of being an author, both with fingers numb from long hours of typing and with hands stained with ink. i have found my calling. this is who i was born to be.
ocho. being a student. sure, it's hard work, but i really kinda love it, especially late nights spent curled up in bed, typing away at a paper. or maybe that's just the author in me.
nueve. i couldn't finish this list without mentioning my friends and family, who bring out the very best in me. you guys rock in a big way.
diez. my great God, who pulled me from the grave of sin and brought me to this amazing new life.

Soli Deo Gloria,
-larkin

don't say that, Larkin--about people not wanting to read what you have to say. as I like to quote: "confidence is half the battle." but I know what you mean...I felt the same way about my thankful post, that it was somewhat redundant of what everyone else was saying and thus nothing special. but just realize that it's special because it's yours, and I really do love reading your blog.

ANYWAY.

I'm so so so very glad nanowrimo is going well for you. will you post any excerpts here for us to read? :) getting your braces off is super exciting, pinterest quotes are the best (will you be getting an account?), and you talking about your choir makes me kinda jealous of how beautiful that must be.

oh, and that second photograph is to die for. you are so talented, my dear. ♥
