Dear Christmas Eve Eve
(or Christmas Adam, if you prefer),
You are so full of joy, and I love you for that. I am not by any means a morning person, and yet today I woke up happy. It must be the Christmas magic in the air. Or maybe the pancakes, gifts waiting to be opened, and delightful photo opportunities. Either way, you rock.
Dear sickness
(flu or cold or whatever you were),
I really can't manage a thank you, because you did make my life miserable for two days, but I appreciate that you decided to take a Christmas vacation from torturing me. Please don't come back. I like Christmas just fine without you. No offense.
Dear bokeh
(little dancing pricks of light),
You are undoubtedly one of the best parts of my Christmas. You give me a whole new perspective - one moment I'm seeing the world through my lens in sharp, normal focus, and the next moment everything is turned to darling circles of loveliness. Me gusta. Today might well have been called "seek out the bokeh" day for me, as you can tell:
(In case you can't tell, below are grapes made out of tiny beads.)
Dear holiday food
(in all your variety and quantity),
You are so yummy that I can't help but take one more bite. Yes, I'm looking at you, chocolate, but also at your more healthful friend clementine. How can you be so cute and orange and tasty? You're like edible bokeh. Which is a very high compliment.
Dear Angry Birds
(you are completely unrelated to this post),
Would you quit wasting my time? No other words needed.
Dear thrift-store ornaments
(you are completely unrelated to this post),
Would you quit wasting my time? No other words needed.
Dear thrift-store ornaments
(speckled and dirty as you may be),
Sure, you're not as perfectly shiny as other ornaments, but I like you better, because you're old, and made with quality, and you have character. I love to sit under the Christmas tree and imagine how many Christmases you've seen. More than me, I'm sure. I like to wonder to whom you first belonged, and why they chose you, and why they gave you away. I imagine how you got your speckles, and what you looked like when you were brand new. I know, I'm a little quirky to be wondering all this about plain old ornaments. But that's the point: you're not plain. And you make Christmas special for me.

Dear blogging friends
(you're awesome. but in other news),
This is my third Christmas blogging here at Libri, and I wouldn't have reached that many without you. So all you loyal followers, commenters, stalkers, and otherwise, give yourselves a pat on the back. Merry Christmas!

5 little note(s):
Merry Christmas, Larkin! Hope you have a blessed holiday!
I love that grape bokeh :)
Merry Christmas!
bokeh bokeh bokeh ♥
loved this post, so much dear. can you believe Christmas is upon us?
Love this post! The bokeh is awesome. And isn't Angry Birds terribly/delightfully addictive?? ;) Great pictures.
P.S. You were supposed to call me. And didn't. *sigh* Now it has to wait until the new year...or maybe the 30th or 31st...email me. :)
lol, am I to blame for the Angry birds thing? ;)
